Parent Orientation

Opening Day and Parent Orientation

It was a day of excitement for all of us to see the happy faces at the inauguration of the school and the parent orientation on July 5th,2019. Indeed, a proud moment for the entire TCIS family as we have all journeyed together to reach this milestone. The opening of the school has been possible because of the joint efforts of the school fraternity, the parents, and the students of this school.

We were delighted to invite parents for our first curriculum orientation on 3rd August 2019 9.30 am – The objective for this orientation is to understand the curriculum, content, teaching methodology, learning activities / tasks, and assessment methods.
Our Principal Ms.Priya Anand oriented the parents about the unique benefits of the IB Primary Years Programme and informed the parents that we are now an IBPYP candidate school. The Pre-Primary coordinator and Primary coordinator spoke about the nuances of the IBPYP curriculum and it’s methodology. They also explained about how a typical day would look like in Primary and Pre primary section. Parents also visited the classrooms to see how the Homeroom Facilitators did teaching and learning in the PYP classrooms.

Keeping this in mind parents across all grades were invited to witness and understand the entire PYP inquiry cycle which would help their children to be independent learners for life. This session from Jan 14th – 17th, 2020 with parents had created an environment of mutual trust and support between the parents and the school as they got updated about the curriculum and felt a part of this special community.

Investiture ceremony 2019 – 2020

Student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. The investiture ceremony of the TCIS primary student council for the academic year 2019-20 was held on Thursday,August 12th and was a proud moment for the school.
The event began solemnly with a march past by the student council candidates led by the Principal. This was followed by the school song. The Principal then addressed the gathering. After this, the oath was administered by the Principal to the Head Girl, T. Sudeeksha and Head Boy, Lakshith S., both of Grade 5.
The head girl and head boy then administered the oath to the Sports Captain (Yeshas Reddy of Grade 5) and the prefects of the four houses, Vulcan or Orange house (Bhumika G of Grade 4), Helios or Yellow house (Anubhava Nath of Grade 3), Demeter or Green house (Bhargav GT of Grade 3), and Zeus or Blue house (Agasthya Mishra of Grade 3).
Each member of the student council was then invested with their badges and sashes, and signed their contracts.The event concluded with the Vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem. It was well attended by the parents of the student representatives, staff, management and students of the school.

Investiture ceremony 2020 – 2021

In the words of John F. Kennedy, former President of the United States, ‘Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other’. July 6th, 2020 was indeed a momentous occasion for the school, as we conducted the virtual Investiture Ceremony.
The Investiture ceremony is a special occasion where the school entrusts upcoming leaders, visionaries and torch bearers of tomorrow with the duty to strive in the spirit of excellence in academics, sports and co-curricular activities, and keep the flag of TCIS flying high.
The program started on a formal note with the school song followed by the Welcome Address by our Principal Ms. Priya Anand. Her presidential address started with a powerful quote of John Quincy Adams, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more then you are a leader’ She reinforced that “Leaders are not born but are made by their experiences in life”. Ms. Priya who herself is a perfect leader and a guide in all rights, emphasized that a true leader with all courage can stand alone to make tough decisions and at the same time is compassionate.
After an introduction of the Head Girl and Head Boy our Principal administered the oath to them. The Secretary, Sports Captain and House Captains took the oath led by the Head Boy.
It was an absolute honor to have Ms. Prashanti Pokharel as our Guest Speaker today. Known for her versatility as a Head-Girl, she has been a role model to many since her IB school days. She has been a topper in IBDP and is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree from Webster University, Thailand. She has worn various hats- creating a positive impact in people’s lives. Her words will surely stay with the newly elected student council and guide them in their journey. She related her first-hand experience of how she faced challenges during her tenure as a Head Girl and later as the Vice President of her school. This indeed boosted up our Student Council for their onward journey. The entire online event successfully ended with the National Anthem.

Annual Sports Day

We celebrated our First Annual Sports Meet ‘Aspire 2019’ on Saturday, 30th November 2019 with great enthusiasm.

Our students mesmerised the audience with their energetic performance and put in their best to keep the school flag high with this event.The proud parents could be seen filled with happiness to see their child performing. The Chief Guest Col. Rohit Mishra addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of sports in a child’s life. This event was a BIG success.

South Asia IB Schools Association (SAIBSA) PYP Job Alike Session

TCIS, Whitefield hosted the South Asia IB Schools Association (SAIBSA) PYP Job Alike Session on 29th February 2020. We had 18 schools from South Zone, offering IBPYP curriculum registered for the event . They were 14 sessions were held by leading and experienced IB Workshop Leaders.
SAIBSA PYP job alike session was an opportunity for all the educators to foster the sense of IB community and create a stronger collaborative network of professional support. The session began with the welcome address by TCIS Principal Ms Priya Anand. Under her strong leadership and guidance, the team could successfully organize the SAIBSA session. TCIS students gave the strong message ‘Be true to nature’ through their magnificent dance-drama performance.
Ms Arushi Sethi, Founder and Director TRIJOG – Know Your Mind was the keynote speaker of the event. She shared ‘Teaching Strategies for Socio-Emotional Learning & self- management skills’. Lt. Col Rohit Mishra conducted an eye-opening session ‘Walk without fear’
Job Alike Sessions forum helped all the participants and facilitators to be enriched through their sharing and provided an opportunity to strengthen and deepen understanding of IB philosophy and Enhanced PYP. All the participants were very impressed by the school hospitality.

Parent Teacher Conference

Parent-Teacher Conference is great way for parents to become involved and stay involved throughout the school year. This is a wonderful opportunity to discuss your child’s academic progress, social behavior and teacher’s expectations.
The first Parent Teacher Conference was held on August 31st, 2019. The conference was a great opportunity for parents to ask questions about their child’s progress, to learn more about the learning in the class, and to find out if the child was having difficulty with anything in particular. Performance reports were shared with the parents and they gave a positive feedback on the teaching and learning. Overall, it was a good time for parents to learn more about their child’s school experience at the conference.
The second Parent Teacher Conference for Term 1 Reports was on Saturday 23rd November 2019 to discuss the child’s progress in school. Parents visited and interacted with all the Facilitators including the Specialist Teachers. We believe that a strong partnership between the home and school will help children succeed in school. Parents gave a positive feedback about their child’s learning at the school.

The third Parent Teacher Conference was held on Saturday, 15th, Feb 2020. The performance report was shared on Seal Tabs on Thursday, 13th, 2020. Parents downloaded the report card from Seal Tabs and got it with them as it useful to discuss the progress of your child.
